Leadership in law firms is not only important for long term survival of the firm itself, but is equally important for marketing to be successful as well. Adam Smith, Esq. has a very good post on the subject of leadership in law firms. I particularly liked the quote from the Harvard Business Review saying that leaders are “people who leave footprints in their areas of passion.”
It gave me a twofold thought on how such leadership bears on legal marketing. First, relates to the topic covered several times already about seeking the work you want to do for the clients you want to do it for. That should be your passion. Secondly, partners should demonstrate their leadership to the younger lawyers by setting a strong example and passion for developing business for the firm.
So, leave your passionate footprints where others will follow your lead when it comes to marketing your law firm.
